MacClearings

MacClearings 1.0 is on its way

The download opens at launch, for macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Leave your email to hear the moment it's out.

One email at launch. No newsletter, and your address isn’t shared.

Install

  1. Open the file you downloaded.
  2. Drag MacClearings into the Applications folder.
  3. Open MacClearings from Applications. The first time, macOS asks you to confirm opening an app downloaded from the internet, after checking Apple’s notarization.
  4. To activate, choose MacClearings > Settings, click License, paste the key from your purchase email and click Activate. Activation checks the key once, then works offline; if the license server can’t be reached later, MacClearings keeps working for 14 days.

Give it Full Disk Access (optional)

macOS hides some folders from every app unless you allow it: Mail, Messages and Safari data, iPhone and iPad backups, and parts of other apps’ Library folders. Without access, MacClearings still works, and it tells you what it couldn’t measure instead of guessing.

To allow it:

  1. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Full Disk Access. Onboarding has a button that opens this pane for you.
  2. Turn on MacClearings. If it isn’t listed, click the add button and choose it from Applications.
  3. Switch back to MacClearings. It notices the change without a restart.

Full Disk Access lets MacClearings read those folders. It doesn’t change what it’s allowed to move: the protected list still applies, and nothing moves without your review.
